blogger is acting very strangely today, so thist post may
show up twice.
i got tagged by rebecca, so here you go. if alot of this has to do with college... well graduating was probably - what am i saying - it was without a doubt the most significant thing that happened last year. graduating and moving out of the apartment and jeff moving and frank moving and taking his 2,000 inch tv and putting away the couch and everything bare and empty and... and... sniff sniff......
you will forgive me....
1. new additions to the list of things about which I am passionate - bossa nova, espresso, Lenny's subs, old hymns and harmonies.
2. what it feels like to lose a best friend. (I didn't actually - but for a while it felt like it. my cousin Rebekah got married.
wait, was that 2005?)
3. how incredible it is to have someone fixing your meals for you. (yes, my mother is amazing.)
4. i judge/misjudge people by appearance more than i realize.
5. some people just need a friend.
6. more often than not it's best just to keep your mouth shut. or smile. the smile is an unbelievably flexible, utilitarian thing which is often the best possible solution to myriad situations. as the penguins in Madagascar would say - just smile and wave boys, smile and wave. (still working on this one.)
7. i have a previously undisovered weakness for stylin'
clothes. and shoes.
8. contrary to popular belief, graduation is not just a myth held out in front of college students like the proverbial carrot. wonder of wonders, it really happens. eventually.
9. now that i'm done i realize how much i really loved college. all of it. even the school part. but especially the roommates, friends, apartment, x-files, whose line, roommates, most excellent Christmas tree with two very special ornaments, oriental chicken salads, roommates, lenny's, domino's... oh man. lots of domino's... BSC, Halo, Fredward, roommates.... this is the beginning of a very, very long list. it's the end of an era.
10. one of the great college secrets (listen very closely good freshmen...) many rules in college can be bent beyond recognition if you talk to the right person. i'm beginning to believe no one would ever graduate otherwise.
11. how much i love my friends in nashville/murfreesboro/knoxville. i think i really came to realize this over my ridiculously stressful summer. hanging with you guys on the weekends was an unbelievable release valve. the activities were fun especially (a) afro bowling (and karaoke!) night. and (b) not much better way to spend a friday with friends than frisbee, dinner, and a movie. even if Boogeyman was way cheesy. good, good times. but being with you peoples is what made it great.
12. you can have more than one home.
so i went two over. so go eat a banana.
oh, and i tag short stack. you know who you are....
