wine Movie Zen

I like movies. I can give you quite a long list of them if you ask. And usually if I really like a movie I call it great. "That's a great movie." But there are those few movies that have brought every element of film-making art into a ringing chord of harmonic bliss. They reside in a plane beyond criticism, not to be tainted by comparison with the plebian masses of cinematography.

This is Movie Zen.

Out of that select number, four of my favorites...

great movies - especially the Winslow Boy. I remember when I first saw it, I was all electricity and excitement. Great stuff, great movie.

I have been wanting to see Roman Holiday for the longest time because I heard people say that it was a great movie. I guess since it made it onto your top 4 list, then I obviously need to purchase it...it'll be the next one. Just got Casablanca and My Fair Lady and I loved both!

Sense and Sensibility -- great movie, great book.
There's one movie that's missing from this list, though . . .
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Yeah.

Great movies.
The Winslow Boy is one of my top favorites. I remember getting it from my parents for my birthday and knowing nothing about it, but I sure love it now. Wonderful music

In truth Deeds, you are the only non-dork on this page. I include myself, as I have seen all of these - not on purpose. (Okay, Ben Hur rocks)

Any movies most likely to be viewed on PBS are not to be taken seriously. You may quote me.

ok Dee I have to concede that I am a dork myself (I mean, The Winslow Boy? where the heck did The Winslow Boy come from?) but I'm a sucker for British film, even (especially) the rather plodding (but beautiful) ones (hey for another great one check out the remake of Rebecca :-) And yeah, two of the other three are definite chick flicks... but even so, good sir Chris, look at the numbers! the two chick flicks alone boast 9 Oscars and Golden Globes and 17 additional nominations. I'll be the first to admit that such awards are not the end all in film criticism, but still...

that concludes my little self defense. :-)
