It would appear that I'm on some sort of posting rampage.
So I've always wanted to record the soundtracks (as in, speech and all) to some of my favorite movies and burn them to cds so I can "listen" to those movies in the car on trips. "But a movie is too long to fit on a cd," you say. True. But my nifty little car stereo plays mp3 cds, and I'm pretty sure I can fit an entire movie onto one cd. Well this morning I found a nifty little program that does just that. It rips the soundtrack off of your dvd by chapter and converts the files into whichever format you choose. What fun. Unfortunately it's a 30-day trial, then costs $30 to buy. Might be worth it though. Right now I'm ripping Underworld. I'm thinking Sense and Sensibility, Meet Joe Black, Sabrina, About A Boy, who knows what else. Not only can I listen to the movie but I'm also excited about how this will simplify the process of creating nifty music videos from the films.
yay.
By the way, the useful little adjective "nifty" originated in 1868, possibly as theatrical slang. Bret Harte, some poem-writing fellow, presumably from aforementioned time period, attested in one of his poetical creations that it is a shortened version of the word "magnificat."

I've always wanted to do that...have movies on cd. I think I would have to go with a Star Wars movie first, but Meet Joe Black will be great fun, too.
